Basic Training: Conference Strives to Provide Useful Knowledge
The primary objective of the Finepoint Circuit Breaker Test and Maintenance Conference is practical training. All of the sessions should provide participants information they can use in the field and that they can share with coworkers.
“Many participants are substation electricians, and Finepoint's objective is to provide useful and unbiased information that can be immediately applied to their maintenance work,” said Bill Myers, president of Finepoint, the conference’s host.
A unique aspect of the conference is that most speakers are electric utility delegates, not suppliers. As a result, participants are able to access practical information from users' perspectives.
Many conference topics focus on low-, medium-, and high-voltage circuit breaker maintenance. However, related substation and switchgear topics such as oil testing and filtration, SF6 gas handling and leak detection, lubrication, safe work practices, thermal imaging, and asset management issues are also covered.
“Over a dozen useful presentations are scheduled for this October, and the conference is an exceptional opportunity for maintenance professionals to join their peers for practical training in the latest problem solving methods.,” Myers said.
More than 490 delegates attended the 2006 conference, representing 210 different companies, 46 states, and nine countries. The conference provides participants, speakers, and exhibitors with a high quality, low key opportunity to exchange information with their peers and learn from the experts.
