Kelvatek to Present First-Trip Circuit Breaker Analyzer
Kelvatek will be presenting the PROFILE P2 “First Trip” circuit breaker analyzer at the Finepoint Test and Maintenance Training Conference 2009.
Reliable Circuit Breaker performance is essential to all electrical power networks. The PROFILE P2 from Kelvatek is a handheld instrument for the condition monitoring of circuit breakers, and is central to the development of an effective Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) program.
The PROFILE P2 can accurately assess the condition of circuit breakers of all voltage levels by capturing the current ‘profile’ in the trip and close coil circuits, along with the DC battery supply voltage and the main contact operating times.
The PROFILE P2 can capture the vital ‘first trip’ operation. As there are no connections to the HV side of the breaker, the device can be connected while it is still in service, also minimizing outage times and costs. One operator can complete the PROFILE P2 test in about five minutes, causing minimum disruption to the system. The Profile can also capture the information on close operations, which can provide valuable insight into the state of the switchgear.
In addition Kelvatek will be co-hosting a technical paper on first trip analysis as a tool for Reliability Centered Maintenance with Steven Cannon from Chugach Electric.
Be sure to visit the Kelvatek exhibit in Booth #18 each evening at The Hospitality Expo.
