Some focus globally: Australian and Canadian “smart metering”, new European Union requirements, the results of time-of-use pilots that arose in the wake of California’s deregulation debacle.

Edison Electric Institute

Edison Electric Institute (EEI) is one of the nation’s leading trade associations. Our member companies supply more than three-quarters of the electricity generated throughout the United States.

The most important changes in the history of the electric utility industry are happening today. The industry is being restructured from one that has been highly regulated to one in which there is significant competition among electricity producers and marketers.

EEI advocates public policy in legislative and regulatory arenas as well as works to promote the development and use of electricity and efficient electrotechnologies. As part of the EEI team, you would work to ensure that our members are well positioned to compete in the evolving marketplace for electricity and energy services.

EEI is committed to providing a high degree of value to its members. In addition to its policy role, EEI creates forums for discussion and is a leader in providing authoritative analysis and critical industry data to its members, Congress, government agencies, the financial community and other audiences. The annual EEI Convention/EXPO, for example, gives more than 1,200 senior executives from all segments of the industry the opportunity to discuss issues and strategies to advance the industry and to ensure a competitive position in a changing marketplace.

EEI has expanded its contribution to the industry through its International Affiliate initiative. The international members work with EEI and its U.S. members on areas of mutual concern including global climate change, expanding markets for power, international technical standards, and electrotechnologies. This international outreach effort encourages an ongoing global dialogue addressing critical and emerging energy issues.

Location

EEI is located at 701 Pennsylvania Avenue in downtown Washington, D.C. We are across the street from the National Archives and just a few blocks away from the U.S. Capitol and the Smithsonian Institution. The National Archives/Navy Memorial Metrorail station is directly in front of our building.
