Bermuda Electric Light Co. Ltd. (BELCO; Hamilton, Bermuda) will deploy the Avantis Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) solution from Invensys (Foxboro, Massachusetts, U.S.) to assist in managing the island's self-sustaining power generation and distribution operations.

As part of a company redesign effort to improve customer satisfaction and control costs, BELCO will replace the incumbent EAM product with the Avantis solution. BELCO will use the Avantis offering to manage materials procurement, inventory, maintenance activities, customer calls and work scheduling. BELCO will integrate Avantis EAM with BELCO's other Invensys products, including a Wonderware HMI system and Triconex control system. Avantis will also be integrated with the existing SAP financial application.

“We chose Invensys because we believe we can increase our customer service levels by integrating best-of-breed applications, such as Avantis. Avantis' user-friendliness was immediately evident. It also has the flexibility to adapt to the specific requirements of our company, in particular as we embark on process re-engineering,” said Andrew Parsons, senior vice president of corporate services at BELCO.

“After a thorough assessment of BELCO's situation, we were able to provide a multifaceted solution that includes the integration of Avantis to GIS, customer information, call-center tracking and outage-management products,” Parsons said. “This functionality is combined with a single portal view of key performance measures for optimal decision support at all levels in the organization.”
