San Diego Gas and Electric (SDG&E), San Diego, California, U.S., has contracted CES International to enhance power-delivery service and reliability for more than 1.2 million utility customers with the Centricity operations resource management system.

SDG&E, a subsidiary of Sempra Energy, will use CES International as its prime contractor to support its personnel in the deployment of the system. The project calls for an InterSys-based integration to SDG&E's Enghouse GIS, ACS SCADA and the Customer One CIS application. In addition, CES International will deploy Centricity with integration to SDG&E's mobile work force management solution, Advantex, provided by CES partner Mobile Data Solutions Inc.

Centricity ties customer data and incoming calls regarding outages into a real-time, electric network model. This information provides operations center personnel and dispatchers with a comprehensive view of delivery network conditions during normal operations and emergency weather.

Incorporating a real-time power-flow engine, switching management and an outage management solution, the OpsCentricity suite arms utility operations personnel with up-to-date information at their fingertips to perform network-switching operations. Using the CrewCentricity suite, they also can dispatch and manage repair crews in the field through wireless communications links to mobile data terminals located in repair trucks. With this technology, crews effect repairs in the safest and fastest possible way.

The CommandCentricity suite, with its Performance Mart and operations Data Warehouse solutions, provides utility executives and media relations personnel with a solution set to facilitate rapid and accurate customer, regulator and media reporting through traditional means or through customer-facing Internet portals available in the MyCentricity suite.
