Linemen installed a new 100-ft utility pole in April at the Vandenberg Air Force Base in California. The added height of about 15 ft will allow future Atlas V rockets to be transported to Space Launch Complex 3.
In the photographs, Airman 1st Class Nathanael Roberts, a 30th Civil Engineer Squadron electrician, is shown climbing a new utility pole to detach the rope used to install the pole. Steve Groves and Staff Sgt. Sean Mackey, both 30th Civil Engineer Squadron high-voltage linemen, are also shown raising and installing a high-voltage cable. Staff Sgt. Mackey is also tightening a cable to minimize future maintenance on the utility pole.
