GE Digital Energy Introduces ITI Instrument Transformers

Clearwater, Florida, March 13, 2009 – GE Digital Energy announces a new family of ITI outdoor medium-voltage (MV) instrument transformers that includes voltage and current instrument transformers in the 15kV, 25kV, and 34.5kV class. These new products, suitable for operating meters, instruments, relays, and control devices, compliment GE Digital Energy's existing ITI Outdoor Low Voltage (LV) Instrument Transformers, and provide utilities in North America and Latin America with a complete solution from one source.

The new ITI MV-Outdoor Instrument Transformers offer utilities improved weatherability and protection from ultraviolet radiation, excellent dielectric properties, enhanced thermal cycle resistance, high tracking arc resistance, and an extended service life. The ITI MV-Outdoor Instrument Transformers are encapsulated in hydrophobic cycloaliphatic epoxy (HCEP) and manufactured using the latest state-of-the-art automated pressure gelation technology, which increases reliability and quality and decreases manufacturing time, meaning customers can now get their products faster.

“GE Digital Energy's investment in Instrument Transformer technology is giving utilities a one stop source that can provide them with products faster and with best in class quality,” said Jaime Irick, General Manager – ITI, GE Digital Energy. “Our years of experience in the instrument transformer industry, along with new, cutting edge manufacturing technology will help us to provide utilities with MV-Outdoor Instrument Transformers of the highest quality and reliability.”
