AREVA Announces Orders from Europe and Asia
AREVA T&D won an order from KEPCO, the South Korean utility, to supply high-voltage direct-current converter stations for a 400-MW bipole scheme linking Jeju Island to the South Korean mainland. The converter stations will transform alternating current to direct current. AREVA T&D will provide the overall system design, network studies and detailed engineering solution. It is to be operational in 2012.
In Turkey, AREVA T&D, in consortium with Usluel Energy, has been contracted by the Turkish Electricity Transmission Co. to design, supply, deliver, install, test and commission five bays of 380-kV and 12 bays of 154-kV gas-insulated substations (GIS). AREVA T&D also will supply power transformers from its manufacturing unit in Gebze, Turkey. The project is aimed at strengthening the Turkish grid, enabling it to handle increasing demand for electricity. This is the latest in a growing list of AREVA T&D GIS projects in Turkey.
