ECS Enters the New England Market
Energy Curtailment Specialists Inc. (ECS; Buffalo, New York, U.S.) will launch its demand-response program throughout New England. ECS currently has several thousand customer facilities participating in its demand-response programs in other parts of the country.
PowerPay! New England Program participants will have no out-of-pocket financial penalties if the reduction goal is not met. Another feature is that participation payments are received in the form of a check, not as a credit on the electric bill. Virtually any type of business with a minimum demand of 200 kW can participate.
In the summer of 2007, ECS's customers across all markets combined to reduce more than 850 MW of power from the grid. The company's demand-response programs in New York and California specifically have been very successful and highly effective in stabilizing the electric grid when demand is extremely high.
