Texas' ERCOT Delays System Upgrade
The Electric Reliability Council of Texas, Inc., grid operator for most of the state, has announced that the nodal market will not open on Dec. 1, 2008, as planned due to software deliveries later than expected.
“Schedule is important, but quality is number one,” CEO Bob Kahn told the ERCOT Board of Directors.
While a new implementation date has not been determined, ERCOT will be working closely with market participants and vendors over the next few weeks to come up with an updated project schedule.
The December date was set in advance of a Public Utility Commission order which established a go-live date by Jan. 1, 2009. ERCOT plans to address the schedule with the PUC.
