Parsons Brinckerhoff Wins South Australian Engineering Excellence Award
Parsons Brinckerhoff together with its client and project owner ElectraNet were recognized for innovative work on the Clare North substation project in the mid-north of South Australia by winning the Project Infrastructure category at the 2011 South Australian Engineering Excellence Awards.
The substation project, developed by ElectraNet and brought online in December 2010, provides South Australia's mid-north region with significant social and economic benefits from renewed security, quality and reliability of energy supply, and provides significant support to the Clare Valley wine-producing region.
The project features the first implementation in Australia of a highly innovative substation control system that conforms to the International Electrotechnical Committee's 61850 standard. It also uses highly integrated switchgear technology, which resulted in a vastly reduced site footprint, together with additional community and environmental benefits of minimal land disruption and visual disturbance.
