AEW ENERGIE AG (AEW, Switzerland) has selected Power Measurement and its Swiss distributor Herren Electronics to supply ION intelligent metering and control devices. Power Measurement will supply the utility with an order of ION 7600 meters to monitor the distribution grid in the Canton of Aargau. According to AEW's project manager, AEW selected the ION meters for their compliance with the EN50160 international power-quality standard, flexible communications features and expanded analysis tools.

The ION system will allow AEW to monitor compliance to the EN50160 standard across a distributed system of meters. The ability for AEW to verify that its power-quality meets the standard will help it to fulfill customer expectations, plus the meters' communications and analysis features will be useful tools for internal evaluation.

The ION 7600 meters offer a versatile mix of communications alternatives including internal modem and Ethernet ports, and also provide detailed power quality reports. The meters can measure power quality in accordance to several international power-quality standards, with flexible thresholds and corresponding alarm and control capabilities.
