Austria: VA TECH T&D Scores Euro 5 Million National Grid Contract

VA TECH Transmission & Distribution (VA TECH T&D) has been awarded a new contract by National Grid Transco at Chickerell in southwest England. VA TECH T&D will supply, install and commission a Mechanically Switched Capacitor with Damping Network at Chickerell 400-kV AIS (air-insulated switchgear) Substation in Dorset, England. Work on the new contract will commence immediately for completion in October 2005.

VA TECH T&D has established itself as a reliable key supplier to National Grid Transco, and the award of the new project follows just half a year after the award of a euro 14 million contract for modifications to NGC's existing 400-kV substation at Bolney in southeast England.
