Brazil: VA TECH T&D Secures Six Major Contracts
VA TECH T&D has secured six major contracts in Brazil, with a total value of about 55 million euros.
Among the most recent contract successes is a project for the Arcelor subsidiary Companhia Siderurgica de Tubarão (CST), a large steel manufacturer. The contract will involve three bays of 138-kV outdoor gasinsulated substations, several HV power transformers, circuit breakers, disconnectors, current and potential transformers, MV switchgear, MV and HV cables, emergency generator groups, automation, protection and control systems, erection, and the respective civil works.
VA TECH T&D has secured four turnkey contracts for Brazil's national electricity company, FURNAS Centrais Elétricas. VA TECH T&D will supply 13 shunt reactors, five breakers and six disconnectors in total for the 345-kV substations of Ouro Preto and Vitória and the 500-kV substations of Cachoeira Paulista and Adrianópolis.
Lastly, VA TECH T&D was awarded a contract by Enerpeixe, a special company constituted with EDP and Furnas Centrais Elétricas, to install a 500-kV transmission line. With a length of 92 km (57 miles), the transmission line will connect the Peixe Angical Power Plant and the Gurupi Substation and will be responsible for the power flow of the 452-MW Peixe Angical Power Plant, which is connected to the North-South Interconnection.
All of the projects are scheduled for completion in early 2006.
