The Siemens Power Transmission and Distribution Group (Siemens PTD, Erlangen, Germany) has developed an E-Business solution called Concert. This sophisticated sales tool simplifies the inquiry and ordering processes for customers.

Starting in November 2000, users were able to access an initial selection of power T&D products on the Internet. Now, however, Siemens PTD offers online 36 million product variations — primarily in the fields of protection, substation automation, medium-voltage equipment and distribution transformers — round-the-clock, worldwide and constantly updated. The Web-based system also interacts with external and internal Siemens marketplaces. These trading platforms provide customers easy access to a wide range of products, systems and services. Concert automatically responds to specific request for Siemens PTD products within a marketplace.
