MISO Market Participants Choose ABB Market Management Solution

ABB has reached agreements with three Midwest ISO (MISO; Carmel, Indiana, U.S.) market participants to provide market interface and bidding software. Vectren Corp., Indianapolis Power & Light and DTE Energy will implement ABB's gimsplus software for management of their respective control area, generation management, and distribution processes in the MISO market.

The software provides the necessary programmatic market interface, market management tools, market settlement and support systems for real-time operations for the MISO Day 2 market. It also has been certified by MISO as meeting all data exchange requirements.

Gimsplus is designed to integrate with existing market participant applications used for energy trading, as well as day-ahead and real-time scheduling and operation. Given the tight time lines imposed by MISO for the establishment of the Day 2 market, the companies are relying on ABB's demonstrated ability to deliver on their commitments.

“Meeting the challenges posed by the MISO Day 2 market will require systems that allow a participant to focus on strategy and market behavior,” says Dave Felzien, ABB product manager for gimsplus. “This product provides that focus. Coupled with our analytic tools like strategistplus for developing and analyzing bid strategies, and our Network Manager EMS/SCADA system, it represents the most complete solution for managing interactions for exchange markets, and for trading physical assets across all ISO markets.”
