National Grid Names Partners
National Grid, which owns and operates T&D networks in the United Kingdom and United States, has selected preferred partners for new five-year contracts worth up to 2.8 billion pounds that will be a significant part of the overall potential capital investment to upgrade and develop the electricity transmission network across England and Wales. These companies have been chosen as preferred partners for the overhead and line cable alliances:
East: Balfour Beatty Group
West: AMEC, Babcock and Moss MacDonald.
The following companies were chosen for the substation alliances:
Southeast: AREVA, Skanska and Mott MacDonald
South Wales and West: Morrisons Utility Services, Jacobs and Mitsubishi Electric
Central: ABB, Morgan Est and Atkins
North: Siemens, PB Power and J Murphy & Sons Ltd.
