United States: Northeast Utilities Seek Single Wholesale Market

Consolidated Edison Co. (ConEd, New York, New York) joined with other transmission owners in New York and New England to recommend that the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission take action to enhance the development of a competitive wholesale electricity market in the Northeast through regional transmission organizations (RTOs).

This action would create a single day-ahead electricity market, stretching from Maine to northern Virginia, and a single real-time electricity market. The day-ahead and real-time markets would depend on compatible software.
