United States: Southern Company Announces Wholesale Power Agreement with FPL
Southern Company (Atlanta, Georgia.) has signed three long-term wholesale power agreements with Florida Power & Light Co. (FPL; Juno Beach, Florida). Under the agreements, which replace existing wholesale contracts that expire in 2010, Southern Company will provide FPL with 955 MW of electric energy, generated from Southern Company's existing wholesale plant capacity.
“We have had a solid track record with Florida Power & Light for more than 20 years, and we are pleased to have the opportunity to build upon our existing relationship,” said Paul Bowers, president of Southern Company Generation. “With our fleet of wholesale generating assets and our commitment to customer service, we will continue to provide this valued customer with reliable, competitively priced energy through 2015.”
