Elster Electricity LLC (Raleigh, North Carolina, U.S.), formerly ABB Electricity Metering, announces the completion of the acquisition of ABB's global electricity and water metering businesses by Ruhrgas Industries (Essen, Germany). Together with Ruhrgas Industries' gas metering businesses, the acquisition creates the world's largest multi-utility metering company, combining the market leaders in electricity, water and gas metering into one organization.

As a result of the acquisition, the former ABB electricity metering business is operating under a new company name, Elster Electricity LLC.

“The integration of metering expertise across the Ruhrgas Industries businesses will present unique opportunities to serve the needs of our customers,” said Mark Munday, president of Elster Electricity.

Elster Electricity customers will continue to receive the same quality products and customer service they've grown accustomed to with ABB Electricity Metering. However, the company has begun transitioning to a dedicated Elster Electricity sales organization and expects this process to be completed by the end of the year.
