WEG Purchases Part of Voltran Ltd.
WEG Electric Motors Corp. has acquired part of Mexican transformer manufacturer Voltran Ltd. This newly formed alliance will facilitate the advance of WEG's penetration into the North American transformer market.
The acquisition of Voltran is in line with WEG's continuing strategy of increasing share of the North American generation, transmission and distribution market by way of improved operational and logistical capabilities.
Voltran is located in Tizayuca, Mexico, 30 miles (48 km) north of Mexico City. WEG Electric Motors Corp., headquartered in Santa Catarina, Brazil, operates manufacturing facilities in five countries. The company's North American headquarters is located in Suwanee, Georgia, U.S., northeast of Atlanta.
