Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories: 100% Employee Owned
Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories Inc. (www.selinc.com) is now 100% employee owned.
Founded by President and CEO Edmund O. Schweitzer III in 1984, SEL employs 1800 people worldwide and supports products in 126 countries. SEL employees previously held a partial stake in the privately held company. Transition to a 100% employee-owned structure is part of the company's long-term strategy for sustained growth, stability and customer focus.
“Transferring ownership of SEL to the employees is the most powerful way that SEL could secure long-run commitment to our industry, employees and community,” Schweitzer said. “Employee ownership will enable all of us at SEL to continue to contribute to making electric power safer, more reliable and more economical. From a personal perspective, I love what I'm doing and look forward to continuing in my role as president and CEO for many years to come.”
“From a long-term perspective, full employee ownership provides SEL with the framework necessary to continue to grow as quickly as we have for the last 25 years, if not even more quickly,” said COO and CFO Nancy Hindman. “Everything from our commitment to research and development to our warranty and customer service ideals is enhanced by employee ownership.”
SEL serves the electric power industry worldwide through the design, manufacture, supply and support of products and services for power system protection, monitoring, control, automation and metering.
