Women of Wind Energy Launch Online Mentoring
The Women of Wind Energy (WoWE) nonprofit networking organization has started an online mentoring program for women working in or entering the wind energy field. The program, which went live in late June 2008, accepts mentor and mentee applicants year-round.
WoWE, which has a dozen local chapters across the United States, selected the online format so women from across the country can easily participate and can structure the program to fit their needs. “We know people in this industry are extremely busy,” noted Mia Devine, project engineer at DNV Global Energy Concepts and a member of the WoWE mentoring committee. “We designed the mentoring program so you can spend as much or as little time on it as you are able. Sometimes it just takes a 15-minute conversation or a thoughtful e-mail to have an impact on someone's life.”
