Ameren Illinois Utilities Expect to Complete Service Restoration by Evening

The Ameren Illinois Utilities expect to complete service restoration work by this evening for those customers who are still without lights due to the ice storm and high winds.

In addition, some customers may need the services of an electrical contractor to reattach or repair customer-owned facilities, such as the meter base, weatherhead or the point of attachment.

About 1,400 Ameren Illinois Utilities field personnel are continuing to restore service to about 4,400 customers today. Since the ice storm first hit early Friday morning, the Ameren Illinois Utilities have turned the lights back on for 134,600 customers across Central Illinois.

If necessary, the electric service restoration effort will continue into the nighttime hours until every customer has power restored. Any deterioration of weather conditions could slow the service restoration process, extending outages into tomorrow.

Ameren Illinois Utilities also noted they will continue to closely monitor the developing weather situation which includes the possibility of freezing rain, sleet and snow. Customers should be prepared for the possibility of severe weather conditions that could cause additional power outages.

The Ameren Illinois Utilities serve 1.2 million electric and more than 840,000 natural gas customers in a 43,700-square-mile area of Illinois.
