Japan’s Diamond Power Uses Itron’s IEE Customer Care

Itron has announced a multiple-year contract with Diamond Power to host a Japanese language-enabled version of its Itron Enterprise Edition Customer Care solution. As one of Japan’s largest power producer and suppliers, Diamond Power provides both extra-high and high-voltage electricity service to more than 100 commercial and industrial customers.

Diamond Power’s service area currently centers on the economically vibrant regions of Kanto, Chubu, and Kansai. The company will use the hosted Itron software to provide its customers with new tools to analyze and manage electricity consumption.

Atsushi Suzuki, head of the Power Sales and Customer Support Group for Diamond Power, said, “Our customers can utilize this system effectively to manage and perform comparative analyses of electricity use, leading to improved operational efficiency and cost reductions.”

James Spencer, Itron’s Managing Director for Asia, said, “IEE Customer Care provides Diamond Power and its customers with the ability to perform important analyses to improve operations and customer service—an increasingly important capability in Japan’s deregulating energy market.”

Built on Itron’s Enterprise Edition (IEE) platform, the Customer Care software solution offers energy providers a robust web-based tool for delivering a higher level of service and value to large commercial and industrial accounts by putting metering-based consumption data to work for the customer.

Among other mission-critical functions, the software generates “what-if” cost analysis reports that allow energy managers at Diamond Power to compare various rate and demand scenarios. The IEE Customer Care solution expands the value that Diamond Power may gain from customer load data, provides online access to utility cost and meter information, and helps to keep Diamond Power’s customers informed about detailed energy consumption at multiple facilities based on historical load data.
