Dominion Virginia Power Prepares for 2009 Hurricane Season
Dominion Virginia Power has been preparing for the 2009 hurricane season by working closely with local, state and federal emergency response organizations and providing storm training for key responders, conducting emergency response drills, and strengthening its service restoration processes.
"We encourage our customers to be prepared and keep themselves safe during challenging weather events, just as our crews are ready to work safely in restoring power," said Paul D. Koonce, chief executive officer of Dominion Virginia Power. "It's best for our company and our customers alike to understand the potential challenges hurricanes can present."
Dominion's Weather Center constantly monitors all approaching weather systems to enable the company to prepare for potential operational problems before inclement weather strikes. Dominion urges its customers to pay attention to weather reports.
