Service Restored to 930,000 Customers of FirstEnergy Utilities
Service to 93 percent of FirstEnergy's utility operating company customers has been restored following Sunday's massive wind storm. As of 10 a.m. Thursday, approximately 70,400 customers of Ohio Edison, Cleveland Electric Illuminating Company, Pennsylvania Electric and Pennsylvania Power remain without service.
Approximately 3,000 line, forestry and service workers -- including those from FirstEnergy operating companies and other utility companies in the region -- are working to restore service.
Power was interrupted to more than one million customers Sunday evening as wind gusts reaching nearly 80 miles-per-hour swept through the area. These high winds caused downed branches, trees and power lines throughout the region. Since the storm began, FirstEnergy crews have responded to approximately 15,000 reports of wires down.
