OG&E Installs Smart Meters in Midwest City and Del City
The advantages of smart grid technology are coming to Midwest City and Del City as OG&E begins to install smart meters on homes and businesses throughout the two communities.
Since the smart grid program began in February 2010, OG&E has installed more than 340,000 smart meters in its territory, including Moore, Norman and parts of Oklahoma City. Almost 800,000 of the new meters are planned for installation by December 2012, completing the process for OG&E’s entire service territory.
“As we continue installation of smart meters, we hope the technology encourages our customers to learn more about their energy use,” said Ken Grant, managing director Smart Grid.
Once a smart meter is installed, Grant said customers have access to the personalized energy information website myOGEpower, allowing them to view their electricity use and price information online and better manage their energy costs.
