PG&E Comments on San Francisco Electric Reliability
Pacific Gas and Electric Company issued the following statement this week from President and Chief Executive Officer Bill Morrow on the July 24 San Francisco power outage:
"This morning, senior leaders from PG&E met with city officials to discuss yesterday's outage and the steps PG&E is taking to respond. We had a very serious and constructive discussion with the Mayor, and we were grateful for the opportunity to update him on our efforts.
"We share Mayor Newsom's focus on safety and reliability in San Francisco, and we assured him that we consider the recent outages in the City to be unacceptable. The performance does not reflect the level and quality of service that we are committed to providing customers, and that they expect from PG&E.
"Today, we are continuing to work to get to the bottom of yesterday's outage. We have taken steps to ensure that equipment in the areas affected is safe. And we are reaching out to apologize to customers who were affected.
"Going forward, we will continue to invest heavily in infrastructure to improve reliability. We have also committed to engage experts from outside PG&E to provide independent recommendations as we review our reliability improvement strategy. In this same spirit of continuous improvement, we also plan to develop stronger, more precise performance measures that will enable us to better track the quality of our service and make appropriate improvements.
"We want to assure customers that safety and reliability are PG&E's highest priorities, and we will take the steps that are necessary to give customers confidence that we are providing the kind of service they expect from us."
