Canada: New Contract Options for Ontario Electricity Consumers
Direct Energy Marketing Ltd. (Toronto, Ontario) is offering consumers a three-year fixed electricity contract with a one-year opt-out clause.
The new contract offers Ontario consumers long-term price protection by providing the ability to lock in at a fixed rate per kilowatt-hour. The contract enables customers to secure a commodity rate of 5.95 cents kWh, with the option to opt-out at the end of the first year. Existing Direct Energy customers will retain their current five-year contracts, which feature other benefits including a 10% discount and free insurance covering up to 12 months coverage on their monthly electricity bill in the event of accidental death or accidental permanent total disability.
