Xcel Energy Expands Advanced Metering Infrastructure Program
Cellnet Technology Inc. (Alpharetta, Georgia, U.S.) has executed a major expansion with longstanding customer Xcel Energy (Minneapolis, Minnesota, U.S.). Under terms of the agreement, Cellnet is increasing its Minnesota area network into Wisconsin, North Dakota and South Dakota, and will deploy UtiliNet wireless fixed network metering to more than 710,000 new solid-state electricity and natural gas customer meters. At the rollout's conclusion, Xcel Energy will have deployed advanced metering infrastructure to more than 2.1 million electricity and natural gas customers throughout these service areas. Xcel Energy has been a Cellnet customer since 1996.
