Snohomish PUD Announces Online Self-Help Energy Suite

Snohomish County Public Utility District has added APOGEE Interactive's residential energy suite to its Web site to offer customers quick and personalized help in reducing their energy footprints and managing their energy budgets. The EnergyAdvisor calculators are part of Snohomish PUD's newly redesigned Web site, which also features easier navigation, online bill payment, expanded categories and videos on conservation, customer safety and green energy.

In a region long known for pace-setting energy-conservation efforts, the Pacific Northwest's Snohomish PUD has branded the Apogee energy applications as the “EnergyAdvisor.” The suite is featured prominently in the expansive “Conservation” section of the Web site. Also subtitled the “Energy Cruncher,” the EnergyAdvisor series offers a comprehensive set of self-help resources which include:

  • A home energy calculator customized with local energy rates and weather data

  • Specialized lighting, appliance, television and thermostat energy calculators

  • A virtual, interactive energy home tour

  • A complete online reference library of residential energy-saving techniques, measures and technologies

  • An eTutorial on the fundamentals of electricity

  • An engaging energy education module called Kids Korner.

These Apogee applications provide strong support for Snohomish PUD's current Energy Challenge initiative, which invites all Snohomish customers to pledge a 10% reduction in their energy use.

“The Apogee tools allow our customers to quickly zero in on their home's energy use patterns and find the best opportunities for energy savings,” said PUD Senior Manager of Energy Efficiency Mary Smith. “The calculators tackle everything from heating systems and big screen TVs to compact fluorescent lighting and even LED holiday lighting. There's something in the series for everyone.”
