Chelan County PUD Migrates to ArcFM

POWER Engineers Inc. (POWER; Boise, Idaho, U.S.) successfully completed an electric utility migration project into ESRI's ArcGIS platform for Chelan County Public Utility District (PUD; Wenatchee, Washington, U.S.). POWER is a leading provider of GIS and engineering services to electric and gas utilities throughout the United States. Chelan County PUD owns the second-largest nonfederal public hydroelectric generating system in the country.

Chelan County PUD, located in north-central Washington state, selected POWER to migrate existing electric utility information from Tellus into ArcFM 8.3 software from Miner and Miner (Fort Collins, Colorado, U.S.). POWER was responsible for geodatabase design, software configuration, geodatabase population, system rollout, training and long-term support. POWER also configured Miner and Miner's Network Adaptor software to work with Chelan County PUD's existing Milsoft package.

“This was a complex project, and POWER migrated our system into the new ESRI environment ahead of schedule and under budget. We were very pleased with POWER's team,” says Ray Hahne, Asset Management Systems manager for Chelan County PUD. “POWER developed a tried-and-true pre-configured data model that was robust and fit our needs well.”

Previously, Chelan County PUD had used ESRI's 7x platform. “Chelan's internal project team was great to work with and really supported the migration effort. They were excited to move forward and that made the project a success,” says John Terry, POWER's project manager.
