Colombia Utility Upgrades FRAMME-Based GMS Technology
Intergraph Corp. (Huntsville, Alabama, U.S.) announced in June that Empresas Publicas de Medellin E.S.P. (EEPPM), Colombia's multi-utility company, is upgrading its FRAMME-based geofacilities management system to Intergraph's G/Technology, the next-generation enabling core of a Geospatial Resource Management system. EEPPM manages and maintains five distribution networks (electric, gas, water, wastewater and telecommunications) for 2.5 million customers throughout Colombia.
The open architecture of G/Technology will enable EEPPM employees to easily leverage and share data, further streamlining day-to-day activities and processes for provisioning and maintaining its service-delivery networks. G/Technology will provide EEPPM with a corporate asset database to further facilitate integration among key IT systems, including its corporate and business environment systems: a CIS, materials and maintenance system, SCADA and engineering analysis systems. Additionally, it will give EEPPM high-performance tracing capabilities for all networks, thus providing a quicker method for identifying and resolving outages, and speeding up the response to customers. With Intergraph's GeoMedia technology, EEPPM will manage the land-base information that is shared between the five distribution networks.
Last year, Intergraph inducted EEPPM into the 100 Percent Club for completing the digital conversion of all its network data, approximately two million features.
