Country Energy Selects GE Software to Manage Electrical Network Operations
Country Energy (New South Wales, Australia), Australia's largest regional energy business, has selected the ENMAC
“We selected the ENMAC software via a rigorous benchmarking exercise which showed it to be the clear leader. Our aim is to establish a ‘virtual control room’ to manage Country Energy's electrical network, which covers an area of 573,000 sq km (221,237 sq miles),” said Ken Stonestreet, group general manager of service delivery at Country Energy. “A key benefit for us is the ability to take advantage of economies of scale, without centralizing system operations into one site.”
Together, the ENMAC distribution management system and the Smallworld Core Spatial Technology will provide an integrated business solution that will support network operations, dispatch and outage management services. The solution will incorporate SCADA, trouble call management, system schematics, geographic information system (GIS) functionality, switching scheduling, and interfaces to power-flow analysis and customer information systems. It will provide a consistent interface to all field staff, call centers and accredited service providers, and will support corporate objectives for customer satisfaction targets.
Country Energy is the fourth major utility in Australia to select the ENMAC distribution management system.
