Guatemalan Utility Selects Siemens Transmission EMS
Empresa de Transporte y Control de Energía Eléctrica (ETCEE) is one of the largest publicly owned electric utilities in Guatemala and is responsible for the transmission of electricity for the entire country. ETCEE awarded the Energy Management and Information Systems division of Siemens Power Transmission & Distribution a contract to provide a new transmission energy management system (EMS) to replace the existing ETCEE legacy system.
A new Guatemalan system was necessary to satisfy the transmission responsibilities of ETCEE and to prepare for the open market in Guatemala. The new technical solution will incorporate a Siemens SINAUT Spectrum SCADA system with ICCP and Advanced Generation Control applications. The system will allow ETCEE to manage in country energy requirements and future interconnections with the countries in the Central America region.
