Habersham EMC Chooses Miner & Miner's ArcFM
Habersham Electric Membership Corp. (Habersham EMC; Clarkesville, Georgia, U.S.) has chosen Miner & Miner's (M&M; Fort Collins, Colorado, U.S.) ArcFM Solution to help enhance its operational efficiency. Habersham EMC, a member-owned cooperative, serves more than 30,000 accounts with 3000 miles (4828 km) of line in Georgia's northeast mountain region.
Habersham EMC previously operated its GIS through GenMap, an AutoCAD-based system. The company selected ArcFM as the most complete off-the-shelf solution available with the ability to meet its requirements without the need for significant customization.
The utility will enhance its efficiency by leveraging several of the interfaces and tools within the application. The ArcFM-Customer Information System (CIS) interface will eliminate the double entry of customer data, while the Multispeak-compliant Network Adapter interface with Milsoft distribution planning software will improve its ability to create models and analyze system performance. M&M's QA tools also will aid in significantly reducing data errors.
The ArcFM implementation is the first step for Habersham in incorporating technology to improve overall operations. Once ArcFM has been fully implemented and all the data converted, Habersham will place the data on mobile units for use in the field.
The project, which began in March, is expected to be complete by September 2004. “We look forward to working with Miner & Miner, and we anticipate ArcFM will help us improve our operations and processes,” said Matt Ward of Habersham EMC.
