PacifiCorp Sees Significant Gains with SPL MWM

SPL WorldGroup Inc. has released a case study today that demonstrates PacifiCorp increased metering field operations by 20% using SPL Mobile Workforce Management (SPL MWM). The company saved an average 1.5 hours per day per technician.

PacifiCorp (Portland, Oregon, U.S.) chose SPL MWM to help reduce the cost to serve while improving customer service and efficiency in metering field operations. PacifiCorp needed to accommodate a customer base that exceeds 1.8 million meter registers without increasing its workforce. Plus, it had to continue to meet performance commitments it made to customers.

“We have performance management reporting capabilities that simply didn't exist prior to the implementation of SPL MWM,” said Mike Cochran, PacifiCorp's director of major projects.

“Before SPL MWM,” explained Jim Wagner, director of metering business support systems, “PacifiCorp field technicians started the day with 45 minutes at an operations center, receiving orders and developing routes. They ended the day back at the center for another 45 minutes of entering data into a computer terminal. Today, the situation is far better. We've eliminated most low-skill data entry tasks from the field technician's workday.”
