Telvent Upgrades Technology Infrastructure for Venezuela's Main Electricity Company

Telvent (Calgary, Alberta, Canada) has signed a contract with Venezuela's main electricity company, Compañía Anónima de Administración y Fomento Eléctrico (CADAFE), to upgrade the electricity management systems controlling more than 65,000 km (40,389 miles) of distribution lines used to supply power to more than 2.5 million people.

This project, worth more than 8 million euros, is part of an investment that Venezuela is making to upgrade the technology infrastructure in the country's electricity sector. Telvent's technology will help CADAFE provide global service at every step of the distribution cycle and increase safety and security. Telvent will supply and install technological solutions for the efficient management of the power distribution grid and enhancement of customer service. The solutions to be implemented include systems that execute the control and acquisition of data, planning and optimization of energy distribution operations, management of incidents on the grid (ArcFM/Responder) and management of power grid maintenance.

According to Telvent's chairman and CEO Manuel Sánchez Ortega, “Our technology will help CADAFE overcome the difficulties and challenges involved in operating the country's vast energy supply network. Building on the contract we recently signed with CADAFE to upgrade Venezuela's transport infrastructure, this contract further strengthens our business relations and consolidates our position in the country.”

Telvent has had a full-time presence in Latin America since 1990.
