The Energy Information Administration today released its March 2004 Short-Term Energy Outlook. According to the report, electricity demand in 2004 is expected to increase by 2%, driven by accelerated growth in the economy and weather-related increases. Coal demand in the electric power sector is expected to continue growing in 2004 and U.S. coal production is expected to increase by 3.6% in 2004.
