BPA’s Transmission Business Line ( www2.transmission.bpa.gov/) is currently seeking highly qualified applicants to fill multiple vacancies throughout the Pacific Northwest to inspect and operate equipment in an electrical power transmission system substation. Operators are responsible for isolating equipment for maintenance personnel while maintaining service to customers and assuring power system reliability.

Power System Substation Operator Trainee - The Substation Operator Trainee program is a formal, 20-month program consisting of five, 4-month steps (training periods 1,2,3,4,5). The Trainee must pass oral and written reviews at the end of each step to remain in this program. Trainees will be promoted to journeyman after successfully passing the fifth step review. Substation Operator Trainee applicants must have experience in being responsible for performing switching, clearing and tagging of high voltage equipment in electrical substations at voltages of 12.5kV or higher.

*In addition to the negotiated hourly wage, Bonneville hourly employees are paid an additional negotiated premium equal to 4.4% of the hourly wage rate.

Applicants must pass a physical examination and provide a 3-year driver’s abstract.
