City Utilities is looking for an Electrician to work in our Substation department. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, college level course work is preferred. Qualified applicants must have a minimum of 3 years experience as a journeyman electrician in the construction and maintenance of substations or 4 years experience as a journeyman electrician in the construction and maintenance of a power plant or heavy industrial plant. Experience with electrical test instruments, blueprints, and diagrams is required. Qualified applicants must understand electrical troubleshooting procedures, be able to read and understand complicated electrical schematics and wiring diagrams. Basic computer skills are required. Must have or be able to obtain a Missouri Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within 90 days. Applicants will be required to demonstrate their knowledge and experience through oral/written examinations. Must be willing to work overtime during peak periods or emergencies. Required to work in substation switchgear, climb steel structures and extension ladders, and work from aerial devices while belted off. Must be able to work in underground vaults, power plants and outside in all types of weather. Qualified applicants must be willing to work in a team environment, and be willing to adapt to new technologies and procedures.
