The state-owned power utility EGAT in Thailand has awarded VA TECH T&D a contract to dismantle a 115-kV transmission line and re-construct a 2-circuit 230-kV transmission line on the same line route.

With a total line length of 293 km (148.5 miles), the EUR 14.2 million (US$17.3 million) contract belongs to the largest transmission line project in southern Thailand, which involves the development of a 500-kV network extension and interconnection to neighbouring Malaysia.
