Austin Energy to Sponsor Condition-Based Online Monitoring Conference

COMET 2016 Conference (Condition based On-line Monitoring of Electrical Assets) has announced Austin Energy as a conference sponsor. The conference will offer non-commercial papers that highlight practical experience with high value electrical asset failure, including ways to prevent failure and other maintenance problems.

The nonpartisan conference is the largest peer-to-peer event for electric power maintenance professionals to come together for networking, professional development and the latest innovations from industry leaders.

Dan Smith, vice president, Electric Service Delivery at Austin Energy, will be a keynote speaker at COMET. “The utility industry is in a transformative time, as we modernize the electric grid to make it adaptable to customer needs and new technology,” said Smith. “Asset management plays a crucial role in this transformation. Austin Energy is proud to once again sponsor the COMET conference, which brings together experts from around the world to share knowledge about the new technologies that are driving the industry’s rapidly changing future.”

Registration is now open for the conference, which will be hosted at the AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center at University of Texas on Oct. 25-27, 2016.

A complimentary tour is available on Monday, Oct. 24, 2016, of the University of Texas, at Austin to view the HVDC cable testing labs, as well as the HVDC HPC Center at the Texas Advanced Computing Center. An additional tour is also planned at an Austin Energy Substation. Space is limited.
