Salt Lake Community College Launches Electric Power Technology Program

Sept. 15, 2011
An Electric Power Technology (EPT) program is coming to Salt Lake Community College.

An Electric Power Technology (EPT) program is coming to Salt Lake Community College, and the school is held a July 14 open house at its Indoor Lineman Poleyard, Room 100F, 9690 S. 300 West, in the Miller Corporate Partnership Center on SLCC’s Miller Campus in Sandy, Utah. The open house was free and open to the public and showcased skills and answered questions about the new program.

The EPT instructors held skill demonstrations like pole climbing, and those who attended spoke to people in the industry, learned about job projections for this fast-growing field, toured the poleyards and received scholarship information.

The Electric Power Technology program at the College begins in fall 2011. Experienced professionals teach classes, students learn basic safety training and hands-on skills in power generation and distribution. The four-semester program leads to a proficiency certificate approved by the Intermountain Power Superintendents Association.
