Q: A certain benefit of renewables like wind and solar is that the fuel is free forever. Think energy independence!  Conversely, we cannot dispatch renewable resources when we need the power and typical practice is not to curtail renewables when we get excess generation during lower load periods. The result can be dumping of power at zero cost or even negative pricing!  In this day of smart meters and digital everything, is it practical to provide spot pricing on an individual basis for significant renewable generation deliveries to avoid market dysfunction?   If so, how would you do it?  If not, is there another solution?
