FirstEnergy Personnel Heading to Florida to Assist With Anticipated Hurricane Wilma Restoration Efforts
FirstEnergy Corp. will send 113 employees -- including 25 line crews and 43 damage assessors -- to Florida to help restore electric service to residents who may be affected by Hurricane Wilma.
The FirstEnergy two-man crews include: 11 crews from The Illuminating Company; 10 crews from Toledo Edison; and 4 crews from Pennsylvania Electric Company. The line crews are scheduled to arrive Saturday night in Orlando, Florida, while the damage assessors are scheduled to fly to Miami on Tuesday.
This marks the third time in two months that FirstEnergy crews have provided mutual assistance to hurricane-damaged areas. In September, FirstEnergy employees helped restore electrical service to those affected by Hurricane Katrina in the Miami, Florida, and Jackson, Mississippi, areas. And earlier this month, FirstEnergy crews traveled to Texas to assist with Hurricane Rita electrical service restoration efforts.
