KCP&L Exceeds Fundraising Goal for Hurricane Relief
Kansas City Power & Light Co. has raised more than $1.46 million for Hurricane Katrina relief, according to a report in the Kansas City Business Journal.
The company, a division of Kansas City-based Great Plains Energy Inc., raised more than $767,000 in cash and contributed a matching $500,000 for the American Red Cross, company spokesman Tom Robinson Wednesday. KCP&L also donated in-kind services worth more than $197,400 to Heart to Heart International, he said.
KCP&L's goal was $1 million. The company accepted donations for Hurricane Katrina relief through Oct. 31.
