KUA Crews Join FPL in Restoring Power to South Florida
Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA) repair crews continue to answer the call for help in south Florida.
KUA crews finished up power restoration in Ft. Pierce on Sunday and moved to nearby Port St. Lucie to assist Florida Power & Light Company with the restoration of electricity in areas devastated by Hurricane Wilma.
As part of its mutual-aid agreement with utilities throughout the state, KUA on Oct. 25 sent 10 linemen, six vehicles and several thousand pounds of supplies to south Florida.
Hurricane Wilma cut a wide swath across south Florida on Oct. 24, leaving more than six million people without electric service.
Founded in 1901, KUA is Florida's sixth largest community-owned utility providing electric and telecommunication services to 170,000 residents in five Central Florida counties.
