M. J. Electric Crews Come to the Rescue

With a reported one million residents of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama currently without power, M. J. Electric, Inc., an InfraSource company, is on a mission to restore electricity to the hurricane ravaged areas of the South. With consent from its current customers, M. J. Electric, a nationwide electrical contractor headquartered in Iron Mountain, Michigan, sent 151 linemen with 52 bucket trucks, 19 diggers, nine trailers, 40 pickup trucks and various tools to assist in assessing and repairing Katrina’s damage. The linemen are expecting to work 16-18 hours a day in dreadful and potentially hazardous conditions for weeks or possibly even months.

Stephen J. Reiten, president of M. J. Electric, Inc., stated, “M. J. Electric, Inc. is committed to help the residents in this devastated area. Under these unfortunate circumstances, there is a moral obligation to do whatever possible to help out those in need.” M. J. Electric, Inc. crews will remain to help return service to the residents as long as needed by the local power companies.
